Lawrence Sevetis Goats 
November 10, 1927 - December 2, 2009

Lawrence Sevetis Goats, 82, of Evadale, died Wednesday, December 2, 2009, at his residence.

 

Lawrence was born in Sour Lake and was a longtime resident of the area.  He was a Plant engineer with Eastex Pulp and Paper in Evadale.  At a young age, Lawrence was a Scout Leader of the Boy Scouts in Orangefield, was a cadet at Texas A&M, started the Boy Scouts in Evadale, served on the Evadale School Board, and served on many committees at Central Baptist Church in Evadale.  He was also in the United States Marine Corps. 

 

He is survived by his children, Karen Brewer and her husband Jerry of Cumming, Georgia, Gary Goats and his wife Brenda of Orangefield, Larry Goats, Jr. and his wife Tamara of Sewell, New Jersey, Correna Lawrence and her husband Bryan of Sour Lake, Glenda Dobie and her husband Bill, Ronda Whitsitt, Becky Hooks and her husband Gerald of Buna, Steve Goats and his wife Phyllis of Evadale, Emily Blakeney and her husband Kerry of Silsbee, and Pennie Hillin and her husband Mike of Buna; twenty-five grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren; and brother Otis “Bo” Goats and his wife Marlene of Nederland.

 

Lawrence is preceded in death by his wife, June Rose Goats; parents, Clyde and Vera Lee Goats; and brother, Al Goats.

 

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 5, 2009, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee, with Reverend Ed Rawls, Pastor of Silver Oaks Baptist Church in Mauriceville and Reverend Howie Howeth, student Pastor of First Baptist Church in Dayton officiating with burial to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Bridge City.  A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, December 4, 2009, 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
