Justin Dean Pate Matthews
September 28, 1978 - December 1, 2009

To God be the Glory—Justin has gone home to rejoice and forever praise his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! He was welcomed home Tuesday, December 1, 2009. Rejoicing with him are his baby brother, Joshua Dwayne Pate; his papa, whom he dearly loved, Roy H. Chumley; numerous great grandparents; and friend and teammate, Thomas Hall. Justin was born September 28, 1978 in Beaumont. He was a sales manager with Golden Triangle Homes.

Justin had a heart for others; he loved deeply with great compassion.  We are so thankful that God loaned him to us for thirty-one years.  He was an awesome son, father, husband, grandson, cousin, nephew, and friend.  Justin’s pride and joy are his two beautiful children.  His greatest wish for Macy and Hayden is that they love and serve the Lord.  Many lives have been touched by the love of Justin. Speaking of love--Justin loved to fish, fish, and fish!

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Macy DeNee Matthews and Hayden Paul Matthews of Kountze; soul mate, Coti Matthews of Kountze; mom and dad, Betty and Paul Pate of Wildwood; special nanny, Mary Louise Chumley of Wildwood; father and stepmother, Jerry and Lisa Matthews of Hurley, MS; brothers, Jerry Matthews, Jr., Dustin Matthews, and Austin Matthews all of Hurley, MS; like a brother, Brent Walker of Beaumont; and numerous other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 4, 2009, at Wildwood Baptist Church, 100 Wildwood Drive, Village Mills with Reverend Jimmy Linn, Reverend Robert Hall, and Reverend Tony Thornton officiating.  Burial will follow at Old Hardin Cemetery under the direction of Broussard’s in Kountze.  A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday, December 3, 2009, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made in Justin’s memory to Wildwood Baptist Church Building Fund, Young Men’s Ministry, P.O. Box 729, Village Mills, Texas  77663.

His mom and dad would like to extend a special thank you to Justin’s loving friend and caregiver over the past ten months.  Justin’s prayer is that all of his friends and family know Jesus so that one day they will all be together again!
