Bicy Reeves Whitley Mock Poss 
November 4, 1911 - November 28, 2009

Bicy Reeves Whitley Mock Poss, 98, of Nederland, passed away Saturday, November 28, 2009 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.

Funeral service for Mrs. Poss will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Nederland, with Dr. David Higgs and Reverend Bobby Dagnel officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday in Oakdale, Louisiana at Cryer Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will held at Broussard’s in Nederland from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday evening.

Mrs. Poss moved to Nederland in 1934 with her husband Kelly Whitley and their son Jimmy. They joined First Baptist Church Nederland where she was a long-time active member for 60 years. She served on various church committees, taught Sunday School, was a member of the Grace Sunday School Class, WMU, member of the Silvertone Choir, and loved to minister to those in need. She was known to be the second oldest member of the church before her death. Mrs. Poss loved to fish, play dominoes and was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star. Most of all, she was a homemaker and loved anytime spent with family and friends.

Mrs. Poss was preceded in death by her parents, Brown and Lenora Reeves; husbands, Kelly Whitley, M.P. Mock and Bill Poss; son, Jimmy Whitley; sisters, Ona Cranford, Vena Shirley, Ivy Hanchey and Net Ricketts; step-son, Billy Adams and step-grandson, Aaron Goostree.

She is survived by daughters, Janet Tollefsen and her husband Wayne of Nederland; Raye Norwood and her husband Dr. Jimmy of Silsbee; Faye Martin and her husband Jack of Hemphill; Peggy Cowart and her husband Jerry of Nederland; grandchildren, Lisa Hooks-Swinea and husband Larry, Kelly Hooks, Thom Hooks and his wife Robin, Darrin Dykes and his wife Beth, Shari Walker and her husband Sean, Don Norwood and his wife Stephani, Jill Short and her husband David; great-grandchildren, Tori, Forrest, Evie, Carlie, Steven, Brian, Will and Mason. Also surviving are step-sons, Jimmy Mock and his wife Betty and John Poss and his wife Linda; step-daughters, Ann Goostree and husband Richard and Nancy Norman and her husband Ike; step-daughter-in-law, Peggy Adams; six step-grandchildren, ten step-great grandchildren and one step-great great grandchild.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Shirley Joseph, Lisa Williams and the staff of Harbor Hospice for their loving care during this difficult time.
