Ruby Edna Mazzola, 82, of Beaumont, died Thursday, November 26, 2009, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth.
A native of Oklahoma City and a resident of Beaumont since 1946, Edna was a retired sales assistant with Merrill Lynch. Edna’s interests included horse riding and amateur equestrian event competitions; she was also a member of the “Happy Steppers”, a senior dance group which danced all over southeast Texas and competed in a Las Vegas dance competition in which the team won a trophy. She was an avid bridge player and earned the rank of “Bronze Life Master” in duplicate bridge
Her husband, John Mazzola, and daughter Cynthia LaForge preceded her in death.
A graveside service with poetry reading will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. A gathering of her friends and family will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 30, 2009, with a sharing of memories beginning at 5:00 p.m., at the mortuary.
