Anthony Ray Linscomb, Sr. 
September 11, 1933 - November 24, 2009

Anthony “Ray” Linscomb, Sr., of Lumberton, lost his battle with Leukemia on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas.

Ray is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Beverly Ann Meschke Linscomb; three children, Gloria Chaney of Lumberton, Martha Scott of Vidor, and Ray Linscomb, Jr. and his wife, Michele of New Windsor, Maryland; five grandchildren, Dustin Chaney of Lumberton; John and Ann Scott of Vidor; Will and Sarah Linscomb of New Windsor, Maryland; two great-grandchildren, Brailee and Kenzlee Chaney of Beaumont; brother Everett Linscomb of Fred; and various cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lyle Linscomb; mother, Mildred Linscomb, and brother, Gilbert Linscomb.

Ray served two years in the United States Navy during the Korean War and faithfully served his Lord as Sunday School teacher, elder of his church congregation, and chaplain of the William Hoy Curtis American Legion Post 72 in Lumberton, Texas. He was a retired employee of thirty-three years from Temple-Inland in Evadale, Texas. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great friend to all those he loved. He will be deeply missed.

His funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. with a gathering beginning at 12:00 p.m. Friday, November 27, 2009, at Redeemer Lutheran Church with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at Broussard’s.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Julie Rogers Gift of Life Program, PMB 46, 148 Dowlen Road, Beaumont, Texas 77707 or to Redeemer Lutheran Church Building Fund, 4330 Crow Road, Beaumont, Texas 77706.
