Carl Paul Tangredi
September 2, 1918 - November 22, 2009

Carl Paul Tangredi was born on September 2, 1918, and passed away on November 22, 2009, at the age of 91.  Anyone that knew Carl knew he did things his way, even until the end.  Carl was proud of his family and his military career. Born in Newark, New Jersey he met the love of his life, Mary, when he was stationed at Camp Polk in Louisiana.    He fought in World War II in Europe and Germany, and was discharged in 1945, following the wars’ end.

Carl Carl supported his large family by owning his own business, Carl’s Burgers & Southern Maid Donuts, and worked for various insurance companies including Prudential, and Harold Life, where he retired.   He never missed a recital or a little league game. He started to play golf after his beloved wife passed away in 1986 and enjoyed going to Las Vegas.  He had many friends over the years that he often played golf with at Bayou Den, where he made his first hole in one.   We remember our trips to the beach and nine people driving in a station wagon to the 1964 New York World’s Fair. We remember our youngest sister, Cathy, rocking in the front seat and the smell of the Italian cheese Daddy bought to bring back to Texas, because ‘you couldn’t buy good cheese in Texas’.  One thing we always had was laughter.   We grew up in a big house with lots of children, not only theirs but others.  Our house was always the gathering place for children, teenagers, and adults.

Carl was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Barbera Tangredi; and his mother and father, Fanny and William Tangredi

He is survived by his six children, Phyllis Chirafis and her husband Sam, Bill Tangredi, Carl Paul Tangredi Jr. and his wife Denise, Anna Rose Skelton-Tangredi and her husband H.B., Fran Pharris, and Cathy Drake and her husband Danny.  Carl leaves behind many grandchildren, Kelly Chirafis Dadabo, Sammy Chirafis, Jr., Chris Chirafis, Koene Tangredi, Julie Tangredi, Mary Pharris, Travis Drake, Lindsey Drake, Nicholas Skelton-Tangredi, Mary Tangredi and Ellie Tangredi; and three great grandchildren, Tristen, Dylan and Conner.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at St. Anne Catholic Church with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at the mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 5144, Beaumont, Texas 77726; or to the charity of your choice.

He may be gone, but he will never be forgotten.  May God hold him and keep him in his loving arms. May he once again be united with his best friends, Sam Citrano and Perry Galassi.
