Anthony Joseph Dugas Jr. 
October 7, 1927 - November 12, 2009

Anthony J. Dugas, 82 of Nederland passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at his residence.

Mr. Dugas was born on October 7, 1927 in Port Arthur, Texas to Anthony J. Dugas, Sr. and Laurence.  He has lived most of his life in Nederland. He and his wife, Bobbie, were married on June 18, 1969, in Nederland, Texas

He retired from B. F. Goodrich as the Production Manager in 1982.  He attended Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur and was on the 1944 State Championship Football Team.  He attended both Texas A & M University where he played football, and Lamar University.

He served our country in the U.S. Army in Japan during the American occupation after WWII and played football on General MacArthur’s Army team. 

He generously donated his time and energy to many charitable

organizations.  He served 2 terms as president of the Nederland Chamber of Commerce and served on several committees.  He was a member of the YMBL of Beaumont, the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and he helped to organize the Mid-County YMCA where he served as president.  He and his wife, Bobbie, were king and queen of the Mardis Gras Royal Krewe of Les Trois Ville.  He donated his time to the Nederland Rotary Club’s many functions.

 

He is survived by his wife Bobbie Dugas of Nederland; six children, Timothy Wayne Dugas and wife Mary Frances of Houston, Donna Marie Dean and husband Bobby of Nederland, Robert A. Price and wife Linda of Groves, Sharon Fairbanks and husband John of Memphis, TN, Deborah Dechaine of Muskogee, OK, James Paul Price and wife Mary of Nederland; one sister, Francine Dugas Gaspard and husband Floyd of Port Arthur, 13 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Monday, November 16, 2009 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland with Reverend David Placette officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary in Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will be 4:00-7:00 PM with a Christian Vigil to be recited at 6:00 PM on Sunday at the mortuary.
