Kay Harless, 84, of Vidor passed away Monday, November 9, 2009 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.
Funeral Service will be Friday, November13, 2009 at 1:00 P.M., at Broussard’s in Nederland with Reverend James Blackwell officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday from 5 to 8 P.M. at the Mortuary.
Mrs. Harless was a native of Corbin, Kentucky and lived in Vidor for twenty five years. She was manager of the Buffeteria at Montgomery Wards in Beaumont and was former owner of Spindletop Restaurant. Mrs. Harless was part of the Greatest Generation serving as Rosie the Riveter during World War II in Detroit, Michigan.
Mrs. Harless is survived by her daughter, Renee Lane of Nederland; three grandchildren, Christy Harless Tippet of Vidor, and her children; Andrew, Callie, Matthew and Kayla; Rhonda Harless Lowe of Louisiana, and her children; Gavyn, Gage, and Griffin; Ben Lane of Nederland; She was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Harless, her parents, Jesse and Margaret Smith, her son, Ronald Harless, eight brothers and sisters and her son-in-law, Mike Lane.
