John Burden, Sr., 69, of Pleasure Island died November 6, 2009 at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m., Monday evening at Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer Dr. in Winnie.  A gathering of family and friends will begin at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Born in Stowell, Texas to James and Florence Burden, John graduated from East Chambers High School with the class of 1957-58.  He served his country in Viet Nam, eventually retiring from the U.S. Marine Corp.

He is survived by his wife Mary Burden; sons, John Earl Burden, Jr., Jeremy Flowers and   Jason Flowers; daughters Fran Tomlinson, and Jessica Flowers; brothers, James Burden, and Butch Burden; sister Peggy Gaus; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
