Olivia Marjorie Serafino Zummo
May 26, 1928 - November 8, 2009

Olivia Marjorie Serafino Zummo of Beaumont passed away on November 8, 2009. She was born on May 26, 1928, and lived all of her life in Beaumont. Olivia graduated from Beaumont High School and worked as a legal secretary for Sun Oil until she married Pete F. Zummo on January 20, 1950. They had the kind of marriage people dream of and were each other’s closest friends.

Olivia was preceded in death by their infant daughter, Karen Ann; by her parents, Victor C. Serafino and Margaret Bruno Serafino; and by her brother, Charles V. Serafino.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Pete F. Zummo; son, Patrick Zummo, his wife Lisa and their children David and Rachel; son, Gregory Zummo, his wife Lorri and their children Taylor and Mary Ellen; son, Mark Zummo and his children Brett, Morgan and Austin; friend and companion, Hilda Malveaux; and many relatives and friends who blessed and were blessed by her love of life.

She made a wonderful home for her family where friends were always welcome. Her boys and their families were her greatest joy. Until Parkinson’s disease took its toll, she loved sewing, knitting and creating beautiful and useful works with her hands.  She loved her beach house, which she turned into a true second home. Olivia and Pete got as much out of their life together, and gave as much back, as any couple could ever hope to do.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2009, at St. Anne Catholic Church with entombment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Everyone is invited to join in praying one of her favorite prayers, the Holy Rosary, 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2009, at Broussard’s.

The family would like to thank everyone who has offered love and comfort to Olivia over the past months. Special thanks are due to Tammy Spiller, Debora Kirtman and Anna Segura for the dedicated care they have provided to Olivia and Pete through these last days. The family also thanks the many doctors and medical caregivers for their exceptional support.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anne Catholic School Foundation, P.O. Box 3429, Beaumont, Texas 77704 or to Monsignor Kelly High School Foundation, 5950 Kelly Drive, Beaumont, Texas 77707.
