Eugene "Gene" Turner 
December 15, 1933 - November 5, 2009

Eugene “Gene” Turner, 75, of Lumberton, died Thursday, November 5, 2009, at his residence.  He was born in Kentucky on December 15, 1933 to Mae Langdon and Levi Turner.  Gene has been a resident of the Southeast Texas area since 2000 and was a retired owner/operator of Turner and Turner Concrete in Dayton, Ohio.

 

Survivors include his wife of twenty-one years, Evelyn Theriot Turner of Lumberton; daughters, Diane Lynn Richie, Donna Harvey, and Sandra Dee Smith all of Hazard, Kentucky; step-daughter, Cindy Westfall and her husband Kendall of LaBelle; step-son, Sidney Crews of Houston; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters, Alice Truett of Dayton, Ohio, and Ann King of Mountain Home, Arkansas; brothers, Arthur Turner of Rainbow City, Alabama, and Levi Turner of West Chester, Ohio.

 

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Turner, and Arnold Turner.

 

A graveside service for Gene will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 7, 2009, at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His grandsons, Sam Rayburn, Shafter Harvey, Jason Richie, Ronald Smith, Donald Smith, Trey Westfall, Gunnar Westfall, and Ty Crews will serve as pallbearers. A gathering of his family and friends will begin at 5:00 p.m. Friday, November 6, 2009, at Broussard’s.

  Serving as pallbearers are: Sam Rayburn, Shafter Harvey, Jason Richie, Ronald Smith, Donald Smith, Trey Westfall, Gunnar Westfall and Ty Crews.
