Carolyn Borel, 81, of Nederland passed away Monday, November 2, 2009 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral Service will be 10 am Friday, November 6, 2009 at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Nederland with Revs. Patrick Hunter and Jim Johnson officiating. Graveside service will be 2:30 pm Friday, November 6, 2009 at Camp Ground Cemetery in Woodville. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 8 pm Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Nederland. Arrangements are under the direction of Broussard’s in Nederland.
Mrs. Borel was a native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and lived in the Nederland area most of her life. She was a registered nurse at Baptist Hospital retiring after 30 years of service. Mrs. Borel was Past Worthy Matron of Nederland Chapter O.E.S #1368. She will be remembered as a lady who never met a stranger and had a hug for everyone she met. In 54 years she never missed a Nederland football game and loved Disney World having been at least 25 times. She was the family matriarch and dearly loved every member of her family.
Mrs. Borel is survived by her husband of 31 years, Charles Borel of Nederland; daughters, Linda Tarver and husband Bruce of Nederland and Carolyn Matlock and husband Jimmie of Allen; sons, Roy Davis and wife Gloria of Lynchburg, Virginia and Jimmy Davis of Austin; step-daughters, Wyona Borel of Fort Worth and Debbie Borel of Murphysburg, Ohio; her grandchildren, Bryan, Michael and Lisa Tarver, Julia and Sam Elliston, Rebecca and John Kizlyk, Kelly and Jason Skillman and Kim and Tom Walker and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother.
