W. H. "Bill" Newnum, Sr. 
March 22, 1915 - November 3, 2009

W.H. “Bill” Newnum, Sr., 94, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, November 3, 2009, in Houston. He was born March 22, 1915, in Howison, Mississippi to Mary Robinson and William Henry Newnum and was a resident of the Beaumont area for over eighty years. 

 

Mr. Newnum was a retired Shipyard Superintendent with Bethlehem Steel and also a member of Westgate Church of Christ where he enjoyed spending his time volunteering.  He always had a passion for making repairs on anything mechanical. Mr. Newnum loved to fish, golf and especially loved to travel after his retirement.

 

Survivors include his son, William H. Newnum, Jr. and his wife Rebecca of Beaumont; grandchildren, Kathleen Rogers and her husband Eddie of League City, and William H. Newnum III and his wife Tanya of Bryan; and great grandchildren, Andrew Rogers, Christopher Rogers, Erin Rogers, and Benjamin Newnum.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Lackey Newnum.

 

His funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 7, 2009, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.  A gathering of him family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning prior to his service at Broussard’s.
