Willie Granger 
October 11, 1927 - October 28, 2009

Willie Granger, 82 of Nederland, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at his residence.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, November 2, 2009 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Port Arthur with Reverend Steve McCrate officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves. A gathering of family and friends will take place Sunday 2:00-8:00 PM at Broussard’s in Nederland with a Rosary recited at 6:30.    Born in Jennings, Louisiana, Mr. Granger has lived in this area since 1943 and retired from Texaco as a #1 operator in the case and package division. He was a member of the O.C.A.W #4-23 and the Citizens Police Academy of Jefferson County. Mr. Granger enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid vegetable gardener. He was one of the founders of the Lions Club in Port Arthur and for many years was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Michael’s in Jasper.   Mr. Granger was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Nathalie Granger and brothers, Will and William Granger. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Joyce Granger of Nederland; daughters, Karen Granger Wells of Church Point, Louisiana, Debra Ann Granger of League City, Texas, Denise Mary Murff and husband Charles David of Nederland, Texas, adopted daughter, Becky Vickrey of Church Point, Louisiana; son, Ronald James Granger of Memphis, Tennessee; granddaughters Christi Wells, Michelle Adams Gatliff , Sarah Katherine “Katie” Granger; grandson, Joseph McKinney “Kinney” Granger, adopted grandson, Johnny Lynn Vickery, sister, Lucille Hebert of DeRidder, Louisiana, and niece Elizabeth Henry of West Lake, Louisiana   Memorial contributions may be made to Team In Training, 1311 Mamaroneck Avenue, Suite 310, White Plains, NY 10605.
