Stanley G. Ray 
September 6, 1915 - October 28, 2009

Stanley was born in Youngsport, Texas to Addie and Buel Ray on September 6, 1915.  He joined the C.C.C. camp during the depression and was sent to Woodville, Texas where he graduated high school.  He attended Lamar Junior College and played football under John Gray.  He worked at Gulf Oil in Sour Lake for nearly forty-four years and retired in 1980 while living in Mississippi.   

Stanley served on the board of stewards at Methodist Churches in Sour Lake, Lumberton, Mississippi and Faith United Methodist Church in Fannett, where he was a charter member.  He also served on the School board in Sour Lake

 

He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; one brother; son, Leland Ray; and granddaughter; Kayla Raye King.

 

He is survived by his wife of almost seventy-two years, Margaret Ray of Fannett; daughters, Sandra Burrell and her husband Eugene of Fannett, Brenda King and her husband Charles of Beaumont; son, Carey Ray and his wife Joni of Fannett; and daughter-in-law, Vickie Ray of Denver, Colorado; ten grandchildren, Karen Reneau and her husband Charlie, Kelly Alton and her husband Randy, and Troy Burrell and his wife Shelly all of Fannett,  Reverend Kevin King and his wife Pam of Winnie, Kristi Pintsch and her husband Kevin of Port Neches, Kasey King and his wife Laura of Humble, Amy Shippey and her husband Bryan of Denver, Colorado, Randy Ray and his wife Nicole of Houston, Luke Ray and Ryan Ray both of Fannett; and sixteen great grandchildren.

 

His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 31, 2009, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont with burial to follow at Pine Ridge Cemetery.  A gathering of his family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2009, at Broussard’s.
