Jerrel Swan, 58, of Hillister, died Thursday, October 15, 2009, at Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital.

He was born September 17, 1951, in Beaumont, Texas to Birdie Strickland Swan and James Henry Swan. Jerrel resided in Hillister and taught HVAC and building trades at Silsbee High School.

Survivors include his wife of thirty-seven years, Joyce Swan of Hillister; son, Jeremy Swan of Hillister; brother, Terry Swan and his wife Melanie of Beaumont; sisters, Shary James and her husband Rodney of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Lynda Cone and her husband Billy of Lumberton; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

His memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 18, 2009, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A gathering of his family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon prior to the service at Broussard’s. A private committal service will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium.

The family asks that everyone who attends Jerrel’s memorial service to dress in casual attire.  Jerrel would have wanted everyone to be comfortable.
