Dorothy L. Childress, 88, of Beaumont, died Friday, October 2, 2009, following a brief illness at her niece’s home in Austin.

She was born December 24, 1920, in Pineland, Texas to Fannie Mae Rudd and Druey Z. Childress. Dorothy has lived in the Beaumont area since 1942 and was a retired cashier with Entex. She was a member of South Park Baptist Church. Dorothy was a Christian lady and enjoyed reading Billy Graham's books but more than anything, she loved watching Joel Osteen on television.

Survivors include her niece, Mary Hicks Milligan and her husband Doug of Austin; great niece, Linda Pena and her husband Matt Peterson of Austin; great great niece, Alena Torres and her husband Matt of Pflugerville; and great great nephew, Doug Pena of Austin.

Her graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at Magnolia Cemetery with Reverend James Blackwell officiating under the direction Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont.
