John Carroll Callahan, Sr. 
July 24, 1938 - September 26, 2009

John Carroll Callahan Sr., 71, of Nederland passed away Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

 

Funeral service will be 10 am Monday, September 28, 2009 in the chapel of Broussard’s in Nederland with Rev. Ray Walston and Rev. M.L. Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. Acting as pallbearers will be his grandsons. A gathering of family and friends will be from 4 to 8 pm Sunday, September 27, 2009 at the mortuary.

 

Mr. Callahan was a native of Orange and formerly of Bridge City. He lived in Nederland for the last 14 years. He was an operator for DuPont retiring after forty years of service. He was a volunteer fireman in Bridge City and will be remembered as an avid vegetable gardener and a person who enjoyed reading.

 

Mr. Callahan is survived by his daughters, Carol Girouard and husband James of Nederland, Sandra Navarro and husband George of Bridge City and Denise Girouard and husband Dale of Groves; sons, John Callahan Jr. and wife Christella of Nederland and Patrick Callahan and wife Tammie of Vidor; seventeen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of forty seven years, Linda Joy Callahan and grandsons, Jonathon Navarro and Brian Girouard.
