Janie Shane Cottom, 61, of Jasper, died Tuesday, September 22, 2009.  She was born September 2, 1948 in Hull, Texas to Alpha E. Sweeden and John H. Shane.  Janie was a longtime resident of Vidor before residing in Jasper. Janie graduated from Lamar University with a Bachelors degree. She was a retired Registered Nurse and Administrator with Jasper Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Survivors include her husband, Garland “Sonny” Cottom of Jasper; son, John M. Noddin and his wife Shawna Cherie of Beaumont; grandchildren, Aditya J. “A.J.” Dutta, Sarah Nicole Noddin, Ayan J. Dutta, Elijah Cole Noddin, and Emily Jane Dutta; sisters, Joann Gillam and Lellie Faye Root; and brother, Wesley Charles Shane.

Janie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt and will be greatly missed by all.

Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 1, 2009, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont with entombment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery. A gathering of her family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2009, at Broussard’s.
