Vida Lee Matherene  James, 81, of Nederland passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Friday, September 25, 2009 at First United Methodist Church in Nederland with Reverend Malcolm Monroe officiating. Interment will be on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Fellowship Methodist Church Cemetery in Hineston, Louisiana under the direction of Broussard’s in Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 8 PM Thursday at the mortuary.

Mrs. James was born in Nederland on November 12, 1927 and was a long time resident. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Nederland.

Vida was a special person, and a beloved friend of all who knew her. She was always there for her friends and has left them all with fond memories. She was truly and angel here on earth.

Mrs. James was preceded in death by her husband, K.C. James, Sr., parents, James and Amy Matherene and a sister, Syble Hankins. She is survived by a son, K.C. James, Jr. and wife Jonell of Nederland; daughters, Karen Zalar and husband, Greg of Houston, and Kathy Landry and husband, Tom of Houston;

Sister, Barbara Vernon and husband, Tom of Beaumont; Grandchildren, Krissy Bourne and husband, Jason of Nederland, and Clint James of Nederland; Great-granddaughter, Jessica James of Port Neches.
