Jerry Lee Matherson 
July 12, 1928 - September 23, 2009

Jerry Lee Matherson, 81, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, September 23, 2009, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.  Born July 12, 1928, in McAllen, the son of Elizabeth Wright and John Matherson, he was the youngest of four brothers.  He was a longtime resident of Beaumont. Jerry retired from Mobil Oil as an accountant and was a veteran of the United States Army stationed in Alaska.

 

He graduated as a double major from the University of Texas with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Psychology.

 

Jerry enjoyed traveling worldwide and vacationing with his wife and friends and had quite a list of countries and destinations under his belt.

 

At home, they also enjoyed Country and Western dancing and playing bridge with their Bridge Club.  He was an avid golfer and woodworker for many years.

 

Survivors include his wife, Billie Matherson of Beaumont; son, Jeff Matherson and his wife Debra of Katy; daughters, Susan Klosterboer and her husband David of Humble, and Nancy Humberger and her husband Hans of Chattanooga, Tennessee; and seven grandchildren.

 

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 2009, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont with burial to follow at Haven of Rest Cemetery. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2009, at Broussard’s.
