Charlotte Diane Matthews died Tuesday, September 22, 2009, in Beaumont, Texas at the age of 52.

Born in Japan, Charlotte lived with her parents and attended the American School in Japan until her family returned to the United States. Following high school graduation, she attended Lamar University until health issues interrupted her studies. Charlotte was a lifelong member of Calder Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, Chris Matthews and her granddaughter, Taya Marie Matthews of Beaumont; brother, Harold Lee Matthews and his wife Laura of Houston; sister, patti Noble and her husband Mike of Arlington Heights, Illinois; mother, Victoria Price of Beaumont; father, Harold Lee Price, Sr. of San Antonio; nieces, Shannon Thain and her husband Charles of Bird’s Nest, Virginia, Crystal Neff and her husband Jeremy of Cypress, Texas, Brittany Price of Laie, Hawaii, Alexandra Noble, Paige Noble, Maggie Noble and Grant Noble of Arlington Heights, Illinois, and Alicia Schmidt and her husband Brian of Beaumont; grand-nieces, Chloe Sembrano and Mallory Neff of Houston; grand-nephews, Logan Neff of Houston, Tanner and Reed Thain of Bird’s Nest, Virginia, Luke and Logan Spence of Longview; aunt, Bert Spence of Longview; and a number of cousins.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2009, at Calder Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Fuller officiating. Interment will be at Rosedale Cemetery in Sour Lake, Texas under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. A gathering of her family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2009, at the mortuary.
