Elizabeth Baker Shear Elmore, 95 of Nederland and Crystal Beach went to be with her Lord on September 19, 2009, with her daughter, son-in-law, and caregiver by her side. Mrs. Elmore, also know as Beth, Mom, and Granny was born on February 4, 1914 in Groveton, Texas. She moved to Beaumont at a very early age. Beth raised 4 children with her first husband, A.A. (George) Shear. After his death in 1957 she returned to school and obtained her LVN from Lamar College. Beth worked as a pediatric nurse until her second marriage to W.J. Elmore in 1962. After her second husband’s death in 1972, Beth continued to reside in Crystal Beach until 1997 when she moved to Nederland to live with her daughter and son-in-law. Beth was always very active in her church and spent many hours volunteering her time with the Houston Independent School District where her daughter Betty was a school nurse. Beth was greeted in Heaven by her parents Howard and Leila Baker, her Brother Jesse Bartlett Baker, husbands Allen A. Shear and William J. Elmore, her son Allen Shear, her daughter Elizabeth “Betty” Shear Armstrong, granddaughter Leslie Ann Armstrong and grandson Eric J. Bayard. Her memory lives on through her survivors, daughters and sons-in-law: Leila (Shear) Christoffel and husband Joe of The Woodlands, Georgia (Shear) Villarreal and husband Manuel of Nederland, and Jerry Armstrong and wife Ann of The Woodlands, two step-daughters: June Elmore Cerrato and husband Doug, and Peggy Elmore. Grandchildren and spouses: Jerry Armstrong Jr., George Armstrong and Steve Shaw, Beth (Bayard) and Ray Pinner, Martin Christoffel, Jolei (Bayard) and Terry Shipley, Cathy (Christoffel) and Sean Ferris, and Brian (B.J.) Bayard. Great Grandchildren: Leslei (Pinner) and Casey Adams, Jason Pinner, Alese Pinner, Lilei Shipley, Evei Shipley and Julia Ferris, and one great great grandson: Coy Adams, sister-in-law Rack Shear and brother-in-law: Wayne Elmore. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Nederland with Reverend Malcolm Monroe officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont. The family expressed special gratitude to Joyce Castro for her loving care of our mother and grandmother.
