Eugenia “Tookie” Novich, 75, of Nederland, passed away on Friday, September 19, 2009 at her residence.

A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland with Reverend David Placette officiating. Entombment will follow in Serenity Mausoleum at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. A gathering of family and friends will be Monday evening at the mortuary with a Vigil Service at 6:00 with Deacon Dallas Broussard presiding.

Mrs. Novich was a lifelong resident of the Nederland area, retiring from the Nederland I.S.D. Tookie, as she was known to most people, enjoyed quilting, traveled the world, always recorded her daily activities in her journal, and loved to take photographs of her family. Most of all, she enjoyed smiling and being happy.

Mrs. Novich was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Novich.

Tookie is survived by her daughter, Emma Rae Montalvo and husband Bobby of Nederland; sons, Martin Novich and wife Sarina of Kingwood; Roger Novich of Nederland; Neil Novich and wife Kelly of Port Neches; grandchildren, Mike Montalvo and wife Anney, Alishia Novich, Stephany Leonard and husband Bodie, Tara Novich, Robert Novich, Rory Novich and wife Erica; Amber, Micah, Josh, Hayley; great grandchildren, Abbey Montalvo, Max Montalvo, Ariel Leonard, Kingston Novich, Jaden Leonard and Landon Novich; Mariah, Marin, Malori, Autum, Cory and Coby.

The family would like to say thank you to the staff of Professional Hospice for support during Mrs. Novich’s illness and a special thank you to Selma and Amy for their care.
