Dorothy Frances “Miller” Helms, 85, of Beaumont, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 19, 2009. 

Mrs. Helms was a loving and compassionate mother of five; Ellen Knight and her husband Ray of Houston, David Helms III and his wife Karen of Nevada, Truett Helms and his wife Geina of Garland, Mark Helms and his wife Teressa of Warner Robins, Georgia, and Judy Serio and her husband Danny of Beaumont. Mrs. Helms was especially passionate about her great love for her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She also shared her loving heart with her many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, who played such an important part of her life.

Mrs. Helms was preceded in death by her loving husband, David Leslie Helms, Jr.; her mother, Zackie Beatrice Yarborough; her father, James Miller; her brother, Cecil Miller; and the sister with whom she shared her heart and soul, Mary Ellen Nolan.

Mrs. Helms spent the last year of her life at Hotel Beaumont, who the family credits for keeping her active and loved on a daily basis by showing her their compassion and support.

Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 21, 2009, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont.  A gathering of her family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Broussard’s. A graveside service will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2009, at West Hill Cemetery, 1304 West Lamar Street, Sherman, Texas.
