Lizzie “Chick” Gibbs, 87, of Beaumont, died Friday, September 18, 2009, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont. A native of Pitkin, Louisiana, she was born December 1, 1921 to Weadly Cloud and Julius Ashmore.
Survivors include her husband of sixty-nine years, Carl Gibbs of Beaumont; daughters, Carolyn Kirk and her husband Clarence, and Christy L. Gibbs, all of Beaumont; son, Carl Gibbs, Jr. of Houston; two grandchildren, Allen Kirk and Kenneth Kirk; seven great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.
A very active member of Calvary Baptist Church, missions held a special place in her heart. She loved her family with whom she enjoyed spending time. Chick also had a great passion for antiques.
Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2009, at Calvary Baptist Church with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A gathering of her family and friends will begin at 6:00 p.m. Monday, September 21, 2009, at Broussard’s.
