Angelina “Cupie” Fontenot, 89, of Batson died Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at Dubuis Hospital in Beaumont. Angelina was born October 2, 1919 in Opelousas, Louisiana to Ben and Louise (Briscoe) Eglin. A resident of Batson for over sixty years, she was a homemaker and a longtime member of Batson Prairie Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, George Fontenot and his wife Peggy of Batson, Lois Johnson and her husband Gary of Fort Worth, and Peggy Dills and her husband Kevin of Round Rock; grandchildren, Ken Baxter, Shelby Dills, Tyler Dills, Denise Tidwell, Sheila Folse and her husband Cajun, and Maudie Wright and her husband Steve; eleven great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren; and nieces, Betty Zernial and Eloise Prudhomme.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall “Shorty” Fontenot.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2009 at Batson Prairie Baptist Church in Batson under the direction of Broussard’s, 530 W. Monroe, Kountze.  Burial will follow at Guedry Cemetery in Batson.  A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, September 18, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the church.
