Harriet Ealy Shipman, 66, of Nederland, passed away Monday, September 14, 2009 at the Ohio University Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, September 19, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Nederland with Rev. Toney Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches under the direction of Broussard’s in Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 8 PM Friday at the church located at 104 N. 13th Street in Nederland. Mrs. Shipman was born November 25, 1942 to Harry and Evelyn Ealy, and lived all of her life in Nederland. She retired as a bookkeeper with Smith Belting and Electric in Beaumont with over 17 years of service. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Nederland where she was a member of the Chancel Choir, and the Flame and Cross Stitchers. Mrs. Shipman was preceded in death by her son, Timothy Shipman. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Powell and husband Steve of Indiana; two sons, Matthew Shipman and wife Dina of Nederland, and Paul Shipman also of Nederland; her daughter-in-law, Kris Shipman of Meridian, Texas; two sisters, Martha Morrison and husband Dwain of Nederland, and Janet Quebedeaux and husband Raymond of Nederland; ten grandchildren, Kasey, Chelsea, Miranda, and Jake Shipman, Stephen Hargraves, Harrison, and Sarina Shipman, also Keara, Jasmine and Ian Powell. |
