Violet Carlin “Nanny” Trahan, 87 of Nederland, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at the Serenity House in Port Arthur.

A funeral mass is scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 19 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland, with Reverend Tino Barrera and Reverend Dan Malain officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday evening from 5-8 P.M. at Broussard’s in Nederland with a Rosary recited at 6 P.M.

She enjoyed crocheting, oil painting and fishing, but most of all she loved being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mrs. Trahan was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Wilfred Carlin and her  most recent husband Earl Trahan; daughter, Laura Carlin; brother, George Mazerat and sister, Audrey Maddox.

Survivors included daughters, Jo Ann Henslee and husband Donald of Nederland, Betty Miller and husband Jimmy of Sulphur, LA.; son, Sonny Carlin of Nederland; grandchildren, Stacy, Chad Henslee and wife Melanie, Jennifer Tyler and husband Adam, Jamie Manuel and husband Jonathan and Jeff Miller and wife Jessica plus 14 great grandchildren.

The family would like to express their most sincere appreciation to the wonderful staff at the Serenity House for kindness and care for Mrs. Trahan.
