Evelyn Sweeney King, 90, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at the Tremont Senior Residence Home in Houston.
She was born July 15, 1919, in Orange to Nora and Samuel S. Sweeney. Evelyn has been a resident of the Beaumont area most of her life and was a retired accountant/bookkeeper for Magnolia Cemetery.
Survivors include her daughter, Iris Sue Allen and her husband Joe of Kountze; grandchildren, Lori Palmer and her husband Michael, Joe David Allen, Jr. and his wife Sherri, Randy Allen and his wife Jaime, Catherine Stellakis and her husband Luke, Robert King, James King and his wife Jennifer, and Christy King; and fourteen great grandchildren.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy William King; sons, Clyde Sweeney King and Leroy King, Jr.; and great grandson, Christopher Quinn Allen.
Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 17, 2009, at First Christian Church of Beaumont, 5290 North Caldwood Drive, with burial to follow at Magnolia Cemetery under the directions of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A gathering of her family and friends will begin at 9:30 a.m. Thursday morning prior to the service at the church.
