Sunday September 13, 2009, our beloved Mother and Nana, Olga Alfrida “Mattson” Welch, completed her work here on earth and went to be with her Lord and Savior. There to greet her were her parents, Victoria and Theodore Mattson and her beloved husband of fifty-four years, Jack B. Welch; son Edward Graham Welch; daughter, Margaret Victoria Shelton Ford; brothers, Harry and Oscar Mattson; infant sister; and grandson, Raymond Avery Ford .
 
Born to Victoria “Nelson” Mattson and Theodore Mattson on November 27, 1927, in Braintree, Massachusetts, she moved with her family to Texas in 1964 and had lived in Beaumont for the past forty years. Olga dedicated her life to the care of others and the service of her Savior. She was a 3rd Order Dominican.
 
Left to cherish her memories are her brother, Robert Mattson and his wife Winnie; son, Richard Welch and his wife Martha; daughter, Mary-Ann Mastrangelo and her husband Rocco, adopted daughter, Peggy Dawn Rayner and her life partner Eddie Lee Ford, Sr.; grandchildren, Rodney Kent Shelton Jr., Marvin Miles Ford, Joshua Lee Ford, Eddie Lee Ford Jr., Kenneth Wayne Ford, Johnnie Eric Ford; her lifelong best friend, Rose Caswell; and her sisters in Christ of the Dominican Family.
 
Her extended family includes five great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved.

Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2009, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont with Reverend Jeremiah McGrath officiating.  A gathering of her family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2009, at Broussard’s. A private committal will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium.
