Daphne Camille Martin 
January 23, 1929 - September 14, 2009

Daphne Camille Martin, 80 of Missouri City, Texas died Monday, September 14, 2009, at Christus Hospital St. Mary in Port Arthur.

 

Born in Texarkana to the late Monte and Leslie Dykema, Daphne was a homemaker and later became a successful real estate broker.  She was the proud wife of a United States Air Force Officer, the late Thomas M. Martin, and together they journeyed around the world.

 

Survivors include her daughters, Melanie Cooley and her husband George of Richmond, Texas, and Melissa Baldo and her husband Nick of Beaumont.  She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren Jenifer Cooley, Catherine Baldo and Lizzie Baldo; and her dear brother, Donald Dykema of Dallas.

 

Daphne had a zest for life and a generous heart.  An accomplished bridge player and avid Bingo devotee she never met a stranger and her smile could light up a room.  She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.

 

A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2009, at Houston National Cemetery Chapel, 10410 Veteran’s Memorial Drive, Houston.

 

A memorial Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 2009, at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 700 North Street, Suite M, Beaumont, Texas  77701.
