Jimmie Dean Graves, 74, born June 14, 1935, in Craig, Missouri died September 11, 2009, in Beaumont peacefully in the comfort of his home with his wife Jeanette and family along his bedside. Jim and Jeanette, devout Christians, were married fifty-one years ago in Wahiawa, Hawaii, where Jim was stationed in the United States Army. They have enjoyed over twenty-six years traveling in their motor home “Silver Ann” visiting all fifty states.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, T.J. Graves; and brother, George Graves. He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanette Graves of Beaumont; sons, Larry Graves and his wife Slena of Beaumont and Rickey Graves of Lumberton; mother, Hazel Graves of Beaumont; sister, Lois Hogue of Beaumont; sister in law, Jessie Graves of Silsbee; three grandchildren; his special four legged buddy and companion, “Boudreaux”; and numerous loving family members and friends.
Special thanks to Jim’s cousin, Jerry Yount and his wife Denise of Shubert, Nebraska, for running the farms in his absence while caring for Jim. Also thanks to Jeanette’s sister, Earleen Yannazzo of Houston, for all the trips to M.D. Anderson.
His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 14, 2009, at North End Baptist Church, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, September 13, 2009, at Broussard’s.
