Steven Christy Sparks, 64, of Estes Park, Colorado passed away on Friday, August 28, 2009. He was born July 27, 1945, in Beaumont to Viola May (Joines) Sparks and Christian B. Sparks.
As a boy, Steven loved to go hunting, fishing, and spending time with his many beloved cousins. He graduated from South Park High School in Beaumont in the class of 1963. After high school, he joined and served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967. He spent two years in Germany.
Steven and his wife Elaine were known entrepreneurs. They established and sold several businesses before founding Cabin Fever Jewelry in Estes Parks, Colorado twenty years ago. Steven and Elaine made many dear friends with travelers who visited their store from all over the world.
He is preceded in death by his father, Christian B. Sparks.
Steven is survived by his loving wife of thirty-seven years who was the love of his life, Elaine (Manuel) Sparks of Estes Park, Colorado; mother, Viola (Joines) Sparks of Beaumont; sister, Vicki L. Hawkins and her husband Holbert of Beaumont; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and great nieces that he loved very much. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2009, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont with Pastor Michael Boston, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 7, 2009, at Broussard’s.
