George Huddle 
November 26, 1924 - September 1, 2009

George Huddle, 84, of Lumberton, died Tuesday, September 1, 2009, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.

 

George was born in Ben Wheeler, Texas and lived in this area for the past twenty-five years.  During World War II, George served his country in the United States Army and he was a retired purchasing agent in industrial construction.

 

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Huddle; children, Peggy Newsum and husband Allen of Lake Rayburn, Sue Praznik and husband Tim of Nederland, Mike Huddle and wife Becky of Conroe, Mark Taylor and wife Libbie of Forney, Tim Taylor and wife Cathy of Decatur, Alabama, Katrina Brumley and husband Bill of Vidor, and Tonya Allen and husband Mitch of Colmesniel; grandchildren, Reid Shepherd, Holly Earl, Alicia Praznik, Morgan Dennard, Leah Taylor, Amy Carlisle, Megan and Marshall Taylor, Shawna and Brian Smith, and Daniel and Joey Cady; great grandchildren, Cooper Earl, MacKenzie Smith, McKenna Cady, Weston Dennard, Aubrey Freeman, and Taylor Carlisle; and sister, Mary Bagley of Abiline, Texas.  George is preceded in death by his parents, Arch and Irene Huddle and a brother, Cecil Huddle.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church or Harbor Hospice, 2450 N. Major Drive, Beaumont, 77713.

 

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 4, 2009, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 1305 Roosevelt Drive, Silsbee with burial to follow at Turner Branch Cemetery in Spurger, under the direction of Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.  A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday, September 3, 2009 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
