Patsy Gene Burroughs Robbins 
March 30, 1938 - September 2, 2009

Patsy Gene Burroughs Robbins, beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

 

Pat was born March 30, 1938 in Rosebud, Texas where she spent her childhood years.  After graduating from high school she and her family moved to Nederland where she began her career with AT&T.  Pat held several different jobs in what was then referred to as the Traffic Department.  She was later appointed to the position of Chief Operator in Port Arthur.  Pat continued to work in various positions and retired February 28, 1990.  She was active and served in different capacities in the Telephone Pioneer organization. After retiring Pat later moved to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas where she lived until March 1, 2009. She then moved to Beaumont to be near her children and extended family, Barbara and Dave Bennett.

 

Pat loved life and lived it to the fullest. She was always very considerate, compassionate and energetic in all that she did.  Pat challenged her children and grandchildren to be all that they could be and to do their absolute best.  She set a great example by the way she lived her life.  Pat loved to play cards, dominos, bridge and fish for trout in the White River in Arkansas.  She loved and supported her church with her time and resources and she loved her Savior Jesus Christ.

 

Pat was preceded in death by her mother and father, Ruth (Peeler) and Clarence Logan; husbands, Howard Travis, Coy A. Burroughs, and Clay Robbins; and special friends, Ronald Wilson and John Wild.

 

She is survived by her daughters, Janet McCurley of Beaumont, and Darla Hollingsworth of Delaware, Ohio; son, Jerry Burroughs of Nederland; brother, Bobby Logan and his wife Judy of Brownsboro; sister, Sue Chamberlain and her husband Floyd of Butler; grandsons, Kevin White of Nederland, Kyle White of Houston, and Casey Hollingsworth of Delaware, Ohio, and Mark McCurley of Nederland; and a host of friends who were fortunate enough to cross paths with her during her lifetime.

 

Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 4, 2009, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont with burial to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.  A gathering of her family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 3, 2009, at Broussard’s.
