Marie Sandefur Peterson, 88, of Nederland passed away Sunday, August 23, 2009 at Silsbee Oaks Nursing Home in Silsbee.   Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches under the direction of Broussard’s in Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday at Broussard’s mortuary.    Mrs. Peterson was born November 6, 1920 in Henderson, Kentucky to Scott and Elsie Sandefur. She lived in Nederland since 1928 until moving to Cheek in 1981. She worked for Guy Carriker as a legal Secretary before working for Sun Oil Company in Nederland as an executive secretary.   Mrs. Peterson was preceded in death by her husband, J. P. Pete Peterson, and her brothers, J.A. Sandefur, and Starling Sandefur. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Hart and her husband Charlie of Fred; her sons, Scott Peterson and his wife Margi of Beaumont, Dennis Peterson and his wife Rhonda of Crystal Beach, and Mark Peterson and wife EJ of Florida; her brother, Donald Sandefur and sister-in-law, Patsy; also ten grandchildren, Brett Hart of Austin, Melissa Baxter and her husband Lester of Fred, D.K. Marlow and his wife Tracy of Vidor, Dana Peterson of Tennessee, Cody Hart and his wife Cindy of Vidor, Casey Hart and his wife Tonya of Silsbee, Bridget Elliott and her husband Jim of Hampshire Fannett Brandi Collier and her husband Darren of Lumberton, Toni Ard and her husband Cory of Fred, and Tabi Peterson of Austin and nineteen great grandchildren. The family wants to give a special thanks to Joyce Samuels and the staff of Silsbee Oaks Nursing Home for the care given to Mrs. Peterson.
