Buddy Wayne Payton Sr., 72, of Spurger, died, after a long and courageous illness, Saturday, August 22, 2009 at his residence.

Buddy was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas to Charles and Maybelle (Thomas) Payton, and lived in Spurger over twenty seven years, and was a retired truck driver.

He is survived by his loving wife of forty two years, Barbara Martin Payton; children, Buddy Wayne Payton, Jr and wife Debbie of Benton, Arkansas, Becky Morgan of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Deniece Haynes and husband Blake of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, Evelyn Moulder and husband Luke of Silsbee, and Shawn Payton of Spurger; ten grandchildren; brother and sisters, Bonnie Milam, Louise Alvarez both of Okalahoma City, Okalahoma, Tommy Payton of Chicago Illinois, and Betty Kinnard of Spurger; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Buddy is preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, Billy Payton, Ruth Harrington, Alice Griffith, Jimmy Payton, and Lee Payton.

Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 25, 2009, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee, with burial to follow at Turner Branch Cemetery in Spurger.  A gathering of family and friends will be Monday, August 24, 2009 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Broussard’s.
