Alton "Red" Truitt Lasiter

Alton Truitt “Red” Lasiter, 84 of Nederland, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2009 in Port Arthur. Mr. Lasiter’s funeral service will be Sunday, August 23, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Broussard’s in Nederland with the Reverend Micah Howell officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday evening from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the mortuary. Born in Grapeland, Texas, Mr. Lasiter has lived in Nederland since 1946. He retired from Texaco Chemical 29 years ago, where he worked in the Storehouse. Red was a member of the First Baptist Church in Nederland were he taught Sunday School and drove the first bus the church had for Vacation Bible School. He enjoyed to travel and was crazy about his grandchildren. He was a WWII veteran serving with the United States Navy and was a member of the Port Neches Masonic Lodge. Mr. Lasiter is survived by his son, Alton J. Lasiter and wife Robin of The Woodlands; daughters Ann Fulfer and husband Kane of Port Neches, Theresa Heintschel of Vidor; brother, Loyal Lasiter and wife Billie of Mineola; sister, Maurine Ayres of Groves; grandchildren, Justin, Bobby and Callie Darwin, Chris and Katie Lasiter, Garrett and Holly Heintschel and great grandchildren, Damin and Camii Darwin. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 1911 Nederland Avenue, Nederland, Texas 77627. |
