Ellen Mae “Lonnie” Abshire, 75, of Beaumont, died Thursday, August 20, 2009, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth. A native of Vidor and a resident of Beaumont since 1958, Ellen was born January 27, 1934, to Lillie Marie and Mentor Boudreaux. She worked as a switchboard operator for Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth for thirty years.

Survivors include her sons, Ken Abshire and Michael Abshire of Beaumont; daughters, Claudia Abshire of Oklahoma City, Nancy Gray and her husband John of Windsor, California, and Sue Abshire of Beaumont; grandchildren, Heather Lang, Heidi Lang and Joshua Lang; and sister, Linda Sue Joshlin of Newton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 22, 2009, at Our lady of the Assumption Catholic Church with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 21, 2009, at the mortuary.
