Marie Holliday Ott, 87, of Beaumont, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2009, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth.
A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Mrs. Ott was born February 12, 1922, to William H. and Mary Jones Holliday. After attending Hinds Junior College in Raymond, Mississippi, she moved to Beaumont, where she met her husband, the late Louis Graham Ott and worked along side him for many years operating the family business, Ott’s TV & Appliance. She then worked for the Mental Health Association and Baten Arms Senior Apartments, where she was well loved by all of the senior tenants. Marie had a talent for art and enjoyed taking classes at the Beaumont Art League, and in later years, at the art department for the Women’s Club of Beaumont. An armchair golfer and a big fan of Tiger Woods, Marie spent many a weekend watching golf with her two cats, Baby Blue and Tiger, by her side.
Her husband, Louis G. Ott; parents, William H. and Mary J. Holliday; and brother, William Holliday preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughters, Diane Ott Pontious and her husband, Stephen of Beaumont, and Greta M. Ott and her partner, Ellen M. Novota of Houston; son, Jon E. Ott and his wife Jeanine of Beaumont; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 14, 2009, at St. Pius X Catholic Church with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. A gathering of family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday, August 13, 2009, at the mortuary.
