Ima Shelton, 84, of Burkeville and formerly of Beaumont, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2009 at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur.

Funeral service will be 2 pm Wednesday, August 12, 2009 in the chapel of Broussard’s in Nederland with Rev. Eddye Sunday officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 8 pm Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at the mortuary.

Mrs. Shelton was a native of ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Kirbyville, a lifetime resident of Beaumont and currently resided in Burkeville. She was a member of Burkeville Baptist Church and was a clerk at Lamar State Bank for many years. She was an avid fan of baseball and Tiger Woods. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and needlepoint and was especially fond of her granddaughters and her nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Shelton is survived by her son, Taylor Jay Shelton III and his wife Lisa of Groves; daughter, Sherrie Leach and her husband Cade of Burkeville; granddaughters, Shelby and Haley Shelton of Groves; sister, Helen Williams of Beaumont and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband T.J. Shelton Jr.
