Clifton "Cliff" R. Reeves
April 8, 1932 - August 5, 2009

Clifton Ray Reeves passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont. He was born in Port Arthur, Texas on April 8, 1932, to Catherine (Bond) and Clifton Reeves. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and served in the Korean War in the Air Force. Cliff retired as a supervisor at Gulf Oil Refinery. He was married to June (Davis) Reeves for over fifty-five years.  Cliff and June lived in the Toledo Bend area for twenty years where they were charter members of the Toledo Baptist Church.

Cliff was the cornerstone of the Reeves family and was loved and cherished by his beloved wife, his children and grandchildren. No greater honor can be bestowed upon a man than to be called “Daddy.” And his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the joy of his life. He enjoyed singing to his children and grandchildren, usually off-key. He loved caring for his roses and generously shared the roses with loved ones. Cliff was active with the volunteer fire department in the Toledo Bend area, and in his younger years was active as a scout leader.

Cliff Reeves is survived by his wife, June of Beaumont; his daughters, Catherine King of Houston, Myla Ramsey and her husband Mike of Beaumont; and Jeanine Katzer and her husband Kevin of The Woodlands; son, Clyde Reeves and his wife Lou of Bellville. Additional survivors are his sisters, Ella Bond Vestal and her husband Gordon of Terrell, and Marilyn Reeves of Bridge City; and cousin, Carolyn Hanks of Plaquemine, Louisiana.  Cliff was proud of his twelve grandchildren, Clifton Reeves and his wife Elizabeth, Leah Lopez and her husband Miguel, Justin Reeves and his wife Tiffany; Nathan Reeves, Meagan Katzer, Katherine Ramsey, Taylor King, Melissa Ramsey, Heather Warren and her husband Ryan, Amy King, Michael Ramsey, and Holly Katzer; and three great-grandchildren.

A gathering of his family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m. with his memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2009, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont, with Reverend Gordon Vestal officiating. A private family committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude for the care provided by the Hospice of Texas.

The family request in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Cliff’s name to Girl’s Haven, 3380 Fannin, Beaumont, Texas 77701.
