Louis Melanson 
November 25, 1934 - August 4, 2009

 

Louis Melanson, 74, of Hamshire, died August 4, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hermann Hospital in Beaumont.

 

Louis was born November 25, 1934 to Melo and Estelle (Arceneaux) Melancon.  A native of Rayne, LA., he lived in the Hamshire area most of his life. Louis retired from Continental Grain in downtown Beaumont with thirty-six years of service he also served his country for twelve years in the United States Air Force. He was “Pops” to the great grandkids and they were the light of his life he also loved to fish and enjoyed family gatherings. 

 

His funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 7, 2009, at Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer Drive, in Winnie with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery.  A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Mortuary.

 

Louis is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Lois (Murphy) Melanson of Hamshire; two daughters, Brenda Skinner and her husband Bill and Darlene Melancon and her husband Charles, all of Hamshire; three sons, Leroy Dubose and his wife Gwen of Hamshire, Joey Melanson and his wife Rene of Port Neches, and Carson Melanson and his wife Renee of Hamshire; sixteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; three sisters, Hilda Perkins of North Carolina, Evelyn Casey and her husband Mike of Vidor and Ella Landry of Houston and numerous other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melo and Estelle Melancon; three sisters and five brothers.
