Roy A. Grimes, 88 of Nederland, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2009, at his residence in Nederland.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM, Friday, July 31, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches with Reverend Bennie Patillo officiating. Burial and Military Honors, will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches under the direction of Broussard’s in Nederland. A gathering of his family and friends will be Thursday, July 30, 2009, 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Christian Vigil to be held at 5:30 PM at the mortuary.   Mr. Grimes was a native of Scott, Louisiana and lived in Nederland for forty-five years. He retired from Texaco Refinery in Port Arthur in the shipping department with thirty-seven years of service. Mr. Grimes served his country in the United States Army during World War II, and was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches.   Mr. Grimes is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Yvonne Grimes of Nederland; two daughters, Becky Demeter and her husband Joe of Port Neches, and Lynda Porter and her husband Johnny of Nederland; one son, Tommy Grimes and his wife Pat of Rockdale; five grandchildren, Margaret Erlandson and her husband Leonard, Timmy Grimes and his wife Claudia, Christopher Demeter, Ethan Demeter, and Justin Porter; two great grandchildren, Teklo Erlandson, and Bela Grimes; one sister, Sylvia Bertrand; and many other family members and friends.   Memorial contributions may be made to Evans Library TAMU, 5000 TAMU, College Station, TX 77843.
