Shirley Faye Hodges Looper 
June 29, 1939 - May 3, 2009

Shirley Faye Hodges Looper, 69, of Stuttgart, Arkansas, went to be with her Lord, Sunday, May 3, 2009 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

 

A native of Wisner, Louisiana, Shirley lived in Stuttgart for over fifty years, where she served as pastor’s wife for forty two years and was principle of the Jesus Name Church of Christ Christian School. She was Pastor's wife, homemaker, school teacher, and mother, not only to her five children but a host of other teens who stayed in her home. She dedicated her life to her church, her children and grand children. She was an outstanding musician, singer and an inspiration to everyone who met her. She will be greatly missed by not only her friends and family, but also the community where she lived.

 

She is survived by her children, Pastor of Jesus Name Church of Christ in Stuttgart, Arkansas, Reverend Guy Looper and his wife Lesa, Katherine Waddles and husband Billy of Scott, Arkansas, Claudia Harlin and husband Carl of Stuttgart, pastor of the First Pentecostal Church in Silsbee, Texas, Reverend Homer Looper and his wife Jody, Randy Rankin and wife Sherrie of Stuttgart; daughter in law, Rhonda Looper of Stuttgart; 12 grandchildren, Earl Looper and wife Heather, Eric Looper, Lorene Looper, B.J. Waddles and wife Natasha, Kerrie Uzzle and husband Brandon, John Looper and wife Lindie,Whitney Herring and husband Justin, Mickie Michele Wallace, Tammy, Tiffany, Teri and Toni Looper; 4 great grandchildren, Colton and Hannah Looper, Lilliauna Waddles, and Lee Uzzle; sister, Lillian Hayes and husband Curt of Meadville, Mississippi; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.

 

Shirley is preceded in death by her husband of forty-two years, Reverend Buddy Looper; son John Looper; sister Irene Parker; and her mother and father Ruth and Homer Hodges.

 

 A celebration of Shirley’s life will be twelve noon on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Jesus Name Church of Christ, 1805 Park Avenue, Stuttgart, Arkansas, with burial to follow at Lone Tree Cemetery also in Stuttgart. A gathering of family and friends will begin at six o’clock on Monday, May 4, 2009, at the church.
