Jewell Inez Berry, 94, was born on November 9, 1914 in Maxie, Louisiana.  She had lived in Beaumont for twenty-five years prior to moving to Houston to live with her daughter, Dotsie West, where she went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 29, 2009.

Her loving husband of seventy-two years, Winfred “Blackie” Berry; daughter, Judy Ratzlaff; and grandson, Wayne Opliger preceded her in death.

She is survived by her two daughters, Dotsie West of Houston and Shirley West and her husband Bob of Warren; grandchildren, Andy Barry and his wife Madonna, and Kevin Barry all of Beaumont, Richard Barry and his wife Tina of Denver, Colorado, Cindy Barry of Mt Ida, Arkansas, Bennie West and his wife Pam of Deer Park, Cheryl Hebert and her husband Curtis of Hondo, Crystal Hoyt and her husband Nolan of Katy, Al Kirk and his wife Rosa of Simi Valley, California, Karla Mitchell and her husband Darrald, Darryl Opliger, and Gayla Judd all of Eureka, California; twenty-four great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren.

Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont with burial to follow at Magnolia Cemetery.  A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 2, 2009 at the Mortuary.
