Sterling Cromwell Crim was born January 5, 1927 in Corsicana, Texas and died Sunday, February 10, 2008 at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth.
Sterling was a life-long scholar earning six degrees, and after retirement continued to study German and Spanish. He taught mathematics for forty-three years at the junior high, high school, junior college and university levels. His last thirty-one years were at Lamar University which included two years in Malaysia under an international teaching program. Sterling proudly served his country in the United States Army in the Philippines following World War II.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Mary Louise Crim; daughter, Kathryn Collins and her husband Terry of Glen Allen, Virginia; son, Randy Crim and his wife Ellen of Dallas; grandchildren, Laura and Julia Collins, Emily, Patrick, Andrew and Charlotte Crim.
His parents, Willa Frances Cromwell and Churchill Wilbur Crim; and his brothers, Truett, Churchill, Jr. and Bill Crim preceded him in death.
A funeral service to honor the life of Sterling Crim will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at First United Methodist Church, 701 Calder, Beaumont under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Crim’s Chapel in Henderson where his parents, brothers and many other family members are interred. A gathering of family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at the Mortuary.
