Robert Blackwell, 81, of Winnie passed away March 30, 2004. He was born in Louisiana in 1922. Mr. Blackwell was a World War II veteran and retired from Texaco, Inc. after 41 years. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Winnie, the Knights of Columbus and a past governor of Serra District 10. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 2, 2004 at St. Louis Catholic Church under the direction of Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer, Winnie with burial in Greenlawn Memorial in Groves. A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday evening from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home with a Christian Vigil at 7:00 p.m. Preceded in death by his granddaughter, Robin Blackwell; sister, Mable Bourque; brother, Hansford Blackwell and is survived by his wife of 54 years, Laura Blackwell of Winnie; children, Michael and Chalma Blackwell of Vidor, Lou and Billy Jordan of Vidor, Maureen Blackwell of Houston and Roberta and Forrest Overstreet of Bridge City; sister, Virginia Campbell of Baton Rouge; six grandchildren, Amanda and Reagan Jordan, John and Hillary Blackwell, Robert and Taylor Overstreet.
