Jewel Rodgers, 86,  of Sour Lake, Texas died Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at her residence.  She was born June 17, 1919 to Ivey and Dora Hare in Merryville, Louisiana.  Jewel was a homemaker and a member of  the Baptist faith.

She is preceded in death by her husband Paul D. Rodgers, daughter Candy Rodgers, brother I.B. Hare, sister Ruby Bailey Williford, and granddaughter Aleathea Bryce Tomlinson. She is survived by her children: Pauline Haynes and her husband David of Nederland, Paul Rodgers and his wife Janye of Sour Lake, Roy Rodgers of Sour Lake, and Wendy King and her husband Tony of Village Mills; brother Shelton Hare of Henderson, Nevada; sister Mildred Bonds of Sour Lake; eleven grandchildren; and twenty-four great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be Saturday, June 17, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. at Broussard’s Chapel, 530 W. Monroe, Kountze, Texas with Reverend James King officiating.  Burial will follow at Old Hardin Cemetery in Kountze.  A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, June 16, 2006 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the mortuary.
